During this unsettling time in our nation as we combat the hidden enemy of COVID-19, anxiety and restlessness can easily build up. It is vital to remember that we as a nation will get through this just as we have in every major pandemic and threat to human life. With this in mind, start a journal while quarantined. Express your inner fears regarding the disease and state of the nation as a whole. If you have lost your part-time job due the crash of the economy, write about it. If you have had someone close to you contract the disease and are worried you might have it, write about it. If you are lying in bed eating what’s left of your quarantine snacks and wondering how much weight you’ve gained during this global crisis, write about it. Years from now this all will be in a history class. Our children will ask how we felt, did we lose our job, did we contract the disease. Decades from now this journal will either give you a laugh, PTSD, or l will remind you that yes the times were grim but we united and made it through just as we have throughout history. As for now, this is merely a writing exercise that may help pass the time and could be submitted to next year's issue of Pegasus. So turn off Tiger King, hide your toilet paper, wash your hands, pull out your pen, and write. Your future Marty Mcflu will thank you for it.
Also, if you are struggling with where to begin, I have attached a link to a few journal prompts.
